Mary Immaculate English Medium School is established in 1962. It exclusively is a Minority Educational Institution within the meaning of section 2 (g) of the National commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act 2004. It is a Christian minority institution, covered under article 30 of the Constitution of India. Lessons on moral principles and conduct are given to students, irrespective of caste or creed. The School is recognized by the Education Department of West Bengal and is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi (School code WB005) for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC).


The aim of the institution is to impart a sound value based education by forming in the student’s habit of piety, virtue, discipline and self reliance during the year of their studies, thus enabling them to be dutiful and useful citizens of our motherland, India. We seek to form the students through education, into persons of character, competence, compassion and committed who will foster uprightness in public life.

Being a Catholic institution, all the students must attend classes of Moral Science / Value Education, which deals with moral principles, value and rule of conduct. A student must strive to attain qualities of mind and heart and integrate into his life virtues such as honesty, sincerity, compassion, generosity, love for nature and self reliance.

Students are prepared for Indian School Certificate of Secondary Education Examination and ISC which are held at the end of Class X and XII. The Curriculum for ICSE is English , Bengali, Hindi, History-civics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer application/Commercial application, Art & Craft, Choral Singing, Physical Training, Bible History and Moral Science and for ISC English, Bengali, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Moral Science, Physical Education, SUPW etc.

Mary Immaculate School is an English Medium School where every effort is made to teach the student to handle English effectively as a written and spoken language. Bengali and Hindi however are compulsory subjects as vernacular in the language scheme of secondary education.

To acquire a great facility in the study of English, only English should be spoken in the school premises.

School begins with the Morning Assembly and students must be on time for it and be present in the Assembly Hall. It is advisable that students reach school at least five minutes before the scheduled time for the assembly. According to their classes Students go to class in silence from the assembly hall. Those who come late must report the reason for their being late to the Principal before they go to their classes.

Every Pupil attending the school is obliged to take part in the choral singing, drill, games and all the other school activities.

 There are four houses each having its own color, Motto, Captain and Vice Captain and is guided by the appointed Councillor. The House system directs all the curricular activities of the school.
